FALLBROOK, CA — A man who was possibly struck by a semi truck was found lying face down on the side of Interstate 15 on Friday morning, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement. Officials were calling it a "hit and run" and were still searching for the driver.

Officials from the CHP and Cal Fire responded at 10:44 a.m. after receiving a report of the man, who was spotted on the right shoulder of the southbound I-15, north of Old Highway 395. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe he was struck by a white semi-truck and were asking the public's help to find the big rig, which could have damage to its right side. The road was not damaged.
