Peer Buddies Wanted For Temecula Special Games Spring: 2024

TEMECULA, CA — The City of Temecula and the Temecula Valley Unified School District are proud to present the 16th Annual Temecula Special Games on Saturday, March 16.

Join us for a morning of fun and inclusive activities from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Great Oak High School Football Stadium (32555 Deer Hollow Way).

Special Games is a free event designed for athletes of all ages with developmental disabilities to participate in opening ceremonies, non-competitive games, and sports activities.

Registration is now open for interested athletes and volunteers. City of Temecula Mayor James ‘Stew’ Stewart discussed the beloved games.

“The City of Temecula champions special needs communities all year long in our inclusive and welcoming community. Our City consistently encourages and advocates on behalf of special needs populations through programming, activities, and services.

"Temecula’s Special Games is a place where all ages and abilities can gather together to celebrate accessibility, inclusion, and a sense of belonging," according to a city spokesperson. "Witnessing this uplifting and empowering event is an inspiring way to spend your Saturday in Temecula.”

High School volunteers are being sought to act as the athlete buddies during the event and participate alongside them, according to the community services department, as well as adult volunteers to oversee the activity stations.

Volunteer registration closes FRI, MAR 8, 2024, at 5 p.m. The deadline to register as an athlete is WED, MAR 13, 2024, at 5 p.m.
