Robotics Team Gears Up for Tourney

The regional competition is set for March 2-4 in San Diego.


A Temecula robotics team is gearing up for a regional competition.

The tournament is set for March 2-4 at the San Diego Sports Arena. The event is free and open to the public.

The FIRST Robotics Team from Temecula Preparatory School will enter six robots in a game similar to basketball, in which the robots will need to pick up balls and shoot them through hoops, said Wing Choi, a spokesperson for the team.

About 50 teams will enter the three-day competition, Choi said.

"It's going to be pretty exciting," he said via email.

The school's robotics team swelled from 20 to 32 members since its inception two years ago, and now includes mentors from , Choi said.
