'Rock Your Red' In Temecula: Meet Community Leader Denyse Wilson

This Temecula nonprofit owner raises funds for educating residents about heart and stroke conditions through her foundation "Rock Your Red."

TEMECULA, CA— Without community leaders, Temecula wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Rochelle Wren, a Temecula reader who nominated Denyse Wilson, founder of Rock Your Red For Heart And Stroke Awareness, a local nonprofit.

Their mission, according to their website, is to significantly improve the awareness of cardiovascular health and well-being of the members of our community through education, support and services to promote a healthy lifestyle free of heart and stroke diseases. Rock Your Red is in its seventh year of providing services, according to the site.

What does this community leader do?

She started a nonprofit to spread awareness about heart and stroke diseases after having open heart surgery for a heart defect. Her nonprofit Rock Your Red for Heart and Stroke Awareness hold several health events throughout the year for the community. Annual event held in February for heart health month have about 200 attendees with speaker such as doctors, nurses, health coach, fitness coach etc. The organization also holds, and participate in health fairs, free hands only CPR training, seminars etc. She is also a speaker sharing her story with others. She serves as a commissioner for the city of Temecula, she is the VP of events for Temecula Valley Hospital Volunteer Foundation. She is on the board for Rancho Damacitas and Empowerment Village for single mothers and kids. She sits on the board for community Mission of Hope food assistance. Board member on her church more and not to mention involved in her community holding events as a Realtor. She sits on the Local board of Association of Realtors, Director on the State level for the California Association of Realtors as well as a National Director for the National Association of Realtors. Denyse not only serves her community but she gives back!

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Denyse should be recognized because the time and energy she puts forth is priceless. She truly cares about people, community, those in need and those who are underserved. The community is a better place because Denyse Wilson is involved and God’s favor is upon her.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Where there is a need, you will find Denyse coordinating, organizing and being involved.
