Showers Expected in Riverside County Saturday Night, Sunday

A storm system is expected to hit a number of regions in Southern California on Saturday night, including western Riverside County, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is expected to develop late Saturday night before becoming more widespread on Sunday, according to an NWS Forecast Discussion issued Saturday. Rainfall measurements are expected to range from a half-inch in many areas to up to two inches on the south slopes of the San Bernardino Mountains.

According to the discussion, there is “a slight chance of thunderstorms” Sunday afternoon and evening, mainly over Orange County, the San Bernardino Mountains and desert areas.

Winds will also gust at speeds of 20 to 25 mph, with stronger winds expected over the San Bernardino Mountains and the high desert. A wind advisory may be in effect Sunday, the discussion said. Showers are expected to decrease by Monday, with the storm system weakening and departing.
