Man Dies After Reported Suicidal Person Prompts Police Response

A reported suicidal man inside a car prompted a heavy police presence mobilization around the Promenade Temecula shopping mall Saturday.

TEMECULA, CA — A man was found dead inside his car near the Promenade Temecula hours after police responded to a reported suicidal person in the area, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Saturday.

A substantial police presence mobilized to the area around the car, which was located near Winchester and Margarita roads in Temecula. People were blocked from entering the area from some time.

Sheriff's deputies and a SWAT team first responded at 2:54 p.m., and police advised the public to stay away from the area. A deceased male was found inside the car some time later, the sheriff's department said shortly before 5 p.m.

The sheriff's department didn't specify whether the deceased man was the same person who triggered the initial report, but said there are no outstanding suspects or threats to the public.
