A second major project was the addition of interactive white boards and audio enhancement in every middle and high school math and English language arts classroom as well as every fourth and fifth grade class throughout the District.
“The technology improvements made in over 500 of our classrooms district-wide will allow for greater student engagement and increase our teachers’ ability to monitor student learning in a timely fashion; in addition the improvements will enhance the way our teachers share resources and collaborate with their colleagues,” stated Joe Balleweg, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Teachers will receive training on the new interactive white boards prior to students returning to classes. Additional training sessions will be offered throughout the year giving teachers opportunities to further expand their skills and share their experiences. The District chose the interactive white board made by Smart Technologies due to the wealth of lesson plans available to instructors to download and incorporate into their classes immediately. They can also share lesson plans they have developed with others.
Classes begin at TVUSD schools on August 13, 2014.
