Temecula Educator Named Preschool Teacher of the Year

Discovery Isle Child Development Center on Temecula Parkway in Temecula is honored to announce that educator Jackie Ruiz has been named Preschool Teacher of the Year by Discovery Isle’s parent organization, Nobel Learning Communities, Inc (NLCI). Ruiz was nominated for the national award by parents, the school’s principal and fellow teachers. The award was formally presented to Ruiz at NLCI’s national principal conference, which was held in Las Vegas in October.

As Preschool Teacher of the Year, Ruiz was recognized for her dedication to making learning fun. She continually looks for engaging ways to reach students with new and creative lesson plans that inspire a love for learning. This award acknowledges Ruiz’s passion for teaching, as well as helping her students reach their full potential academically, emotionally and socially.

“At Discovery Isle, Jackie is a creative force of energy and enthusiasm. We are overjoyed to share in her success as this year’s Preschool Teacher of the Year,” said Dena Houser, principal of Discovery Isle. “Her lessons plans are nothing short of amazing, and it’s obvious that she pours her heart and soul into her role as an educator. She is an inspiration to her fellow teachers and an instrumental part of making Discovery Isle such a positive place for learning and growth.”

Nobel Learning Communities’ Teacher of the Year program recognizes teachers who stand out by demonstrating a strong commitment to inspire, motivate and educate students and staff. Along with the title Preschool Teacher of the Year and the all-expense-paid trip to the national conference in Las Vegas, Ruiz will receive a cash award and a round-trip airline ticket to anywhere in the U.S.

“I am incredibly humbled by this honor and thankful to be a part of such a wonderful and supportive community at Discovery Isle,” Ruiz said. “As a preschool teacher, I have an important job to get my students excited and motivated to learn, which can be challenging for any group of four- and five-year- olds always on the move. Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to teach, and I am so grateful to help build a solid foundation of lifelong learning for my students.”

Ruiz has been an educator for 14 years and has worked at Discovery Isle in Temecula since 2006. She currently teaches pre-k students.
