Temecula Goodwill Store Permanently Closes, Other Locations Still Open
South Temecula residents who relied on the donation station for post-garage sale castoffs are still learning of the thrift store's closure.

TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula Goodwill Retail Store in the south end of the city has quietly closed. The storefront was active, selling items at a 75 percent discount until April 10 when doors shuttered for donations, business and employment.
Five days before the closure, a Goodwill spokesperson shared the nonprofit’s plans on Twitter.
"Our Temecula Retail Store (32705 Temecula Parkway, CA 92592) will permanently close on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Shop our 75% off Liquidation Sale at this store. All sales final," the spokesperson wrote.

The store also stopped taking donations at that time.
Shopping was light in early April, the last time customers "thrifted" the store’s shelves. The Temecula Goodwill store has been a go-to costume and curio shopping place for this thrifty Temecula resident.

It also has been the source of much commentary on social media as couches, furnishings and other items would sometimes glut the store's dropoff area on Monday mornings. Residents often took to Nextdoor or Facebook to gripe about the junking-up of Wolf Store Road, behind the building.
Residents discussed the recent closure on Facebook’s Temecula Talk (Official).
"I feel bad for the store but kinda glad," wrote Shawn Johnson. "It sucked driving on the street behind the store and seeing junk piled up from people dumping their stuff there."
Residents on the Facebook group were also quick to share alternatives for donation dropoffs and good thrift shopping.
"Angel View is a fantastic organization and they've got a thrift store down the road behind In & Out on the parkway," Sarah Cardio said.
Others recommended faith-based The Salvation Army as an organization that not only takes donations and provides jobs but also helps men through overcoming addiction.
"Salvation Army locations in this area sell the items donated to help fund their free all mens drug rehab in Perris," resident Johanna Hose wrote in a Facebook post.
The Temecula Assistance League Thrift Store is also open and accepting donations. The storefront on Via Montezuma Drive in Temecula funds various programs for children and families.
"They do a great job in the local area," Carol Bosman-Anderson told Patch in an email. "They have a huge store, their prices are fair and their merchandise is clean."
If you're specifically looking for Goodwill stores in the area, try the Temecula Boutique/Donation Center at 41125 Winchester Road. There is shopping at the location, but no donations are accepted due to space limitations.
The Murrieta retail store is full service, according to the Goodwill website. The Murrieta Goodwill Retail Store is located at 39400 Murrieta Hot Springs, Unit 102.
Another full-service retail center is the Lake Elsinore Goodwill Retail Store located at 31660 Grape St., Unit 2.
