Temecula Launches Its First Community-Service Day Initiative

TEMECULA, CA — Temecula officials are encouraging residents, businesses and the local community to get involved in the city's day dedicated to community service on Oct. 17, the city announced on Tuesday.

Temecula Together is a day of service that will provide the local community an opportunity "to give back, connect with one another, and make a positive impact throughout Temecula," the city said.

Volunteers will be able to engage in a variety of hands-on projects at locations throughout the city.

The event "is about bringing our community together through the simple but powerful act of serving one another. There is something incredibly special about neighbors helping neighbors and people coming together to make our community a better place. I invite everyone in Temecula to find a way to be part of this special day - every act of service makes a difference," Temecula Mayor Jessica Alexander said in a news release.

The day of service event will include 12 hands-on volunteer projects, such as tree planting, landscape maintenance, fence painting, creek and trail cleanup, care bag packaging, and more.

The projects will be hosted in partnership with multiple organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Club Southwest County, Habitat for Humanity, HomeAid Inland Empire, Mission Hope, and several more local organizations.

The city said there will also be volunteer opportunities for people who may not be able to participate in the hands-on projects.

The volunteer projects are open to different ages, but some require an adult accompany minors for certain projects.

The city said registration is required for each volunteer project.
