TEMECULA, CA— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Mary Geray who nominated Mary Virgen of Temecula.

What makes your mom extra special?

My mother is the most hard-working and caring mother I know. This is the year my mom retires from her job. She works Monday through Friday in administration at a major hospital. She is an RN. Before she was in administration she was a labor and delivery nurse who delivered several babies on her own because the doctor couldn't make it or some other reason back in the day. She also manages my dad's health who had a liver transplant over 20 years ago and just started dialysis. She and my dad also help me watch my son who is 8 years old and has ADHD while I work as an RN. His father has passed away. She still manages to make my dad and herself a cooked breakfast and dinner on days she works after an hour-long commute. I love my mom and she is an inspiration to me. The world is definitely a better place with her in it!

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

To speak poetically, she is like a giant tree that gives shade and comfort to many people.

Happy Mother's Day to Mary Virgen, and thank you for all you do!
