3 Injured In Temecula Parkway Crash, 1 Driver Cited With DUI

Cal Fire firefighters rescued at least one trapped occupant and took three people to a nearby hospital.

TEMECULA, CA — Three vehicles collided Friday morning on eastbound Temecula Parkway at Mahlon Vail Road, requiring the jaws of life to free at least one occupant, officials say.

One driver, whose name was not disclosed, was cited with DUI and will appear in court at a later date, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Deirdre Vickers.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the three vehicles collided at the intersection on the Temecula roadway. The damage was extensive enough that occupants of the vehicles could not self-evacuate, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson.

"Three patients were taken to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition, " Vickers said. No other information about the injured parties was immediately available.

Temecula Parkway was not closed during the incident, as tow trucks were called in to remove at least one disabled vehicle, according to a Riverside County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.
