Temecula Stabbing Suspect ID'd, Booking Photo Released

Sheriff's officials say the man is suspected of stabbing another outside the Temecula Walmart.

TEMECULA, CA — Sheriff's officials have identified a man who is suspected of fatally stabbing another outside of a Temecula superstore following "an altercation." The fight between the two men started somewhere "outside of the Walmart property" around noon and continued into the store's parking lot on Wednesday. It was there that one of the men stabbed the other — who later died at the hospital, police said.

James Beckham Fortney, 40, is being held at the French Valley jail on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter, according to jail booking records. The Temecula resident's bail was set at $100,000.
