In Menifee, city officials will honor veterans with a remembrance service set for 10 a.m. in Wheatfield Park. There will be a flag salute, picnic and children’s activities intended to pay homage to military personnel, according to organizers.

A veterans salute is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, featuring an honor guard and rifle detail, followed by a patriotic concert and remarks by local officials. Riverside County Board of Supervisors Chairman Marion Ashley is slated to attend.

In Moreno Valley, the city will host its eighth annual Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Veterans Memorial, outside the Civic Center, Alessandro Boulevard and Frederick Street. An honor guard detail will perform a flag ceremony, after which U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. John Flournoy from March Air Reserve Base will deliver the keynote address. Patriotic hymns will be played to conclude the affair.

In Temecula, “A Patriotic Salute to Veterans” is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Civic Center quad, 41000 Main St. The Temecula Valley Symphony will provide music recognizing the nation’s armed services, and a video presentation titled “World War II -- Temecula Valley Veterans Remember” will be available to view inside the Civic Center conference room. Local dignitaries are also slated to make remarks commemorating the occasion.
