High pressure has stalled over Nevada and is influencing regional weather patterns, ushering in brittle, dry, hot conditions, meteorologists said.
"As the high-pressure centers over the Great Basin, this opens the door for easterly monsoonal flow to enter Southern California," the NWS said. "Slight chances of thunderstorms (are) in the forecast for the mountains and deserts on Monday afternoon and evening."
