TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival kicks off Friday and is celebrating its 39th year. Here's what to know:
Dates: Friday through Sunday, June 3-5
Times: Friday 3 p.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday 6 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

Location: Lake Skinner Regional Park/Recreation Area, 37701 Warren Road, Winchester, CA
What is the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival?: Nestled among rolling hills of vineyards and surrounded by the Shipley Preserve, the festival grounds offer a weekend in the park with concerts, food, wine, cooking demonstrations, over 150 vendors, and of course hot air balloons.

Hot air balloon rides: Rides are limited to the Dawn Hot Air Balloon Flights (6 a.m. to 7 a.m.) morning tethered rides until approximately 8:30 a.m. and evening balloon glows after 8 p.m. "This is basic science. Hot air rises in cool temperatures," according to event organizers. Note: For safety reasons, hot air balloon activities are always weather-permitting.
