Temecula Valley Youth Host Annual Tea, Fashion Show

TEMECULA, CA - From the National Charity League: On November 4th, National Charity League, Inc. (NCL, Inc.), Temecula Valley Chapter, celebrated their annual Chapter Tea at beautiful Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. NCL, Inc. is a non-profit national organization of mother and daughter members in Chapters across the United States.

The Tea is a NCL, Inc. time-honored tradition that affords mothers the opportunity to impart to their daughters the importance of taking time out of fast paced lives to enjoy a leisurely afternoon with friends. Ticktockers (daughters) learn hostess skills, as well as how to be a proper and appreciative guest. Ticktockers also took on mentorship by learning tea etiquette and passing the information to their respective classes. Both Patronesses (mothers) and Ticktockers enjoyed the traditional wearing of hats and vying for prizes in a hat contest.

The highlight of the event came when the class of 2020 Ticktockers showcased their individuality in a Fashion Show. During the show, each girl presented three outfits that reflected personal style, extracurricular activities, and plans for the future. This year the Junior Modelette program was really tailored around the special young women of the 2020 class. The girls wanted to focus on their strengths while putting themselves in a position to try something new—modeling. Preparations for the showcase consisted of three months of meetings learning about public presentation, positive interactions, and engaging in their community as leaders.

"We had a very successful tea, and I especially want to thank all the Patronesses who worked so hard to put this event together," said Jeni Koperek, Chapter President. "And in addition to everything else we had going on, each Patroness was asked to donate an unwrapped toy for MCAS Camp Pendleton. We ended up collecting over one-hundred toys, which exceeded my expectations."

The NCL Tea tradition is truly a unique experience for both mothers and daughters that will carry on for years.
