TEMECULA, CA — With days starting out under a heavy marine layer, Temecula saw record cool weather on Monday.

This Week In Temecula, temperatures were expected to remain cooler due to the thick marine layer arriving nightly into Riverside County.

On Monday, the high temperature only reached 72 degrees in Temecula, with a low of 61. On Tuesday morning, Temecula expected a high of 79 and a low of 50 under partly sunny skies, according to Accuweather reports.

Record minimum temperatures were recorded in parts of Riverside County on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Thermal recorded a low of 77. The previous record high for low temperature on May 16 was 73 set in 1996. It was 80 in Indio. The previous record was 76 set in 1976.

Tuesday, it'll be mostly sunny, with patchy fog in the morning, and highs from 80 to 85 in the valleys and Inland Empire. In the mountains, it'll be sunny and windy with highs from 74 to 84.

In the Coachella Valley, it'll be sunny and hot, with highs from 97 to 102. Tuesday evening, it'll be cool with patchy fog.
