Temecula's Aaron Adams Wins 'City Manager Of The Year Award' For 2026

TEMECULA, CA — Temecula's city manager, Aaron Adams, has been awarded the California City Management Foundation (CCMF) 2026 City Manager of the Year Award.
"The City Manager of the Year Award recognizes a city manager who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to serving their community," a news release regarding the award states. Adams was selected as this year’s recipient in recognition of his distinguished career and lasting impact on the city of Temecula and the city management profession.
“Aaron is a respected leader within the profession and currently serves as a member of the CCMF Board, where he continues to support and mentor fellow city managers across the state,” said CCMF President Ken Striplin. “Aaron, thank you for your outstanding leadership and your lasting contributions to city management. Congratulations!”

Temecula Mayor Jessica Alexander shared a statement, saying: “This notable award highlights Aaron Adams’ unwavering commitment to excellence in public service to our great City, and recognizes his outstanding leadership in guiding Temecula’s growth and vibrancy over many years. I deeply respect Aaron’s personal and professional dedication to the City of Temecula.”
Adams’ career with the City of Temecula began over 30 years ago.

Initially hired as an intern, he was promoted through various management and executive roles within the city before being appointed city manager in 2012.
Under his leadership, and that of the city council, Temecula has achieved significant milestones, including the early payoff of City Hall, accomplishing zero facility debt across the city, and other debt payoffs that will save the city roughly $47M.
This proactive planning for the City’s short- and long-term fiscal health provides a strong budget that supports Mr. Adams’ lifetime career commitment to ‘building greatness, maintaining excellence,’ focusing on continuously enhancing the city’s infrastructure, addressing resident priorities and improving municipal services to ensure a high quality of life for Temecula residents, businesses and visitors.
Adams shared his thoughts on the award, thanking his peers.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to CCMF and CCMF leadership for this award. I am sincerely honored and humbled to be recognized by my peers,” he said. “I share this award with the Temecula City Council and the entire amazing, talented and dedicated team of staff at the City of Temecula.”
CCMF Executive Director Ken Pulskamp shared his thoughts on Adam's role with the city.
“Aaron exemplifies the integrity, dedication to public service and work ethic of what every city manager should strive to become.”
