CORONA, CA — In Riverside County, not all business news is bad. Many industries are closed due to coronavirus, but a Temecula-based company is taking a leap by opening a new store during the shutdown.

Temecula's Organic Roots will open its second store location Saturday at McKinley Crossroads, 275 Teller Street, in Corona. The family-owned organic and natural food grocer has operated in Southwest Riverside County since 1989. The 18,500-square-foot Temecula store is located at 40458 Winchester Road.

Temecula resident Paul Cook founded the business with his mother, and he said it's the right time to open another locale. In fact, the store is welcoming Corona customers ahead of schedule.

“Now more than ever, people need healthy and organic food," Cook said. "We wanted to open our doors and help them do just that. We believe that the community is the backbone of our business, and are excited to become a part of this one.”

ShopOne Centers REIT Inc. is the owner/operator of the Corona site that is leasing to Cook. Specializing in grocery-anchored shopping centers, the company's COO Bob Dake said, “We are pleased to work closely with Organic Roots to quickly get this store ready to serve the public with healthy, all-natural food products during this very challenging period. Delivering this location ahead of schedule was truly a team effort and reflects our commitment to doing all we can to support our retailers and the communities our shopping centers serve.”

Organic Roots offers local, organic and natural food products, as well as health and body care, and supplements, according to the company. The grocer also touts a wide selection of natural food products for specialized diets, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, low sugar, paleo, keto, low carb and others.

Like the Temecula store, the Corona location will be open to the general public seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (8 a.m. opening for senior citizens). Curbside pickup is available.
