Amid the government shutdown, we were in Washington DC for meetings with Congressional Staff on the Pechanga Water Rights Bill because the Pechanga tribe is attempting to steal water rights from reservation allottees they harmed via disenrollment.
We were in a HOUSE committee meeting in the Longworth building when the scanner erupted with "Capitol Police have reported SHOTS FIRED, on Capitol Hill! Shelter in Place". It was a cause for concern, as our spouses were on Capitol Hill, having been lucky enough to be invited for a tour of the Supreme Court building when they were in the lobby. (yes, it was open during the Democratic shutdown of Washington DC)
