Tony is living without SKIN

My best friend Tony Viscosi greatly needs help from his friends and family. Tony had a massive immune reaction to taking a medication.

My best friend Tony Viscosi moved to Temecula in 1979. His mother still remains in Meadowview in his childhood home. Tony grew up watching all the changes in the area. He loved living in Temecula and worked summers at Lake Skinner and as pool attendant for the Meadowview Clubhouse Pools.

Tony needs our HELP. He took a medication and had a massive immune reaction which has landed him with a disease called Erythrodermic Syndrome. The first time he had this event he wound up in the burn unit at UCSD. That was just the beginning. Tony now loses all the skin on his entire body in (est. 3 month cycles). It is like having a 2nd degree burn across the entirety of his body including his face, souls of his feet, hands, scalp and everywhere else. Tony now goes through endless cycles where he loses it all.

This disease is deadly and is so rare that when he first had the reaction there was very little information about what was going on. It took many specialists and many skin loss events just to finally obtain a correct diagnosis. Last year Tony was in the Emergency room at least 6 times and in July he was in the hospital for 10 days with 95% skin loss, dehydration, kidney function loss, severe hypothermia and septicemia. He could die from any of these events and almost has several times.

Many of you who remember Tony know that he was always active, out surfing, hiking, swimming and having outdoor fun. He worked out every day and took excellent care of himself. I have known him since he was 18 and can hardly watch when he goes through these skin loss events. Because of this medical crisis, Tony lost his home, his retirement (The Boeing Company), his savings and even his car.

Without a cure, Tony copes with excruciating pain and suffering. Others with the same disease are not as lucky as Tony as many don't survive a third or fourth skin loss event. (Tony has had dozens now). He has tried every available treatment without success. There are other countries which have actual treatments for Erythrodermic Syndrome that are not available in the states.

As his best friend, I have put together a fundraiser on the site (GOFUNDME) in hopes that we, Tony's friends and family can support this effort to raise enough so that Tony can get the testing required to even start the process of a treatment. Every small donation helps and adds up. I don't know how much longer he will survive with this disease but the over 50% fatality rate makes Tony worry each time a new flare up begins that it will be his last one.

Please help support this effort by going to the link below and making a small donation. It is also vital that you share this link with as many people as possible in order to make the (crowd funding) fundraiser a success. You can also send Tony a message on his Facebook page. Thank you so much for supporting Tony in this effort, your assistance is greatly appreciated. Please use the Link below to access the fundraiser: Thanks and God Bless, Patrick (Sparky)
