Trial Date Set For Temecula Teacher Accused Of Molesting Student

MURRIETA, CA — A Feb. 11 trial date was confirmed Wednesday for a 58- year-old Temecula elementary school teacher accused of molesting a student.

George Vega of Temecula was arrested last year following a Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation at Vail Elementary School.

Vega is charged with three counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old.

During a status hearing Wednesday at the Southwest Justice Center, Superior Court Judge John Molloy conferred with the prosecution and defense regarding scheduling, and both sides agreed to work on preparations for proceedings in February, prompting the judge to set the date.

Vega is free on a $110,000 bond.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Jim Peters, deputies initiated an investigation on May 7, 2025, after receiving reports of "inappropriate contact" between the teacher and an unnamed student at the campus, located in the 29000 block of Mira Loma Drive.

Peters said that further information was gathered, culminating in Vega's arrest without incident at his residence on Pine Tree Circle days later.

The Temecula Valley Unified School District immediately placed the defendant on indefinite unpaid administrative leave. The district did not immediately confirm Wednesday whether he had been formally terminated.

Following his arrest, TVUSD officials declined to specify the length of Vega's employment as an instructor, or provide any details regarding the alleged offenses.

Sheriff's investigators also did not elaborate on the allegations.

Vega has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
