Wildfire Erupts In South Temecula: 14+ Acres Burn
Sirens roared as firefighters arrived to battle a brush fire that ignited Friday afternoon.
TEMECULA, CA — Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters rushed to the scene of a brush fire burning in the Morgan Hill area Friday afternoon. Roughly 14.5 acres have burned since the start of the blaze, and by 5:30, firefighters had the area 70 percent contained, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Rob Roseen.
Shortly before 3 p.m., a 911 caller reported a blaze in the 34300 Block of Coppola Street in the unincorporated area of Morgan Hill.
Firefighters arrived to find the brush behind homes burning between Coppola Street and Morgan Hill Drive, between Coppola and 79 South, toward Temecula Valley Wine Country. They made an aggressive attack on the blaze both on the ground and from the air and squelched the progress quickly.

Though residents in the area were told to prepare to evacuate, no evacuation orders were not given. The cause of the fire was under investigation, and resources will remain on the scene until 11 p.m. to build full containment around the area, he said.
