Women's March In Riverside County Calls On Female Voters

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Hundreds of people turned out Saturday for the fourth annual Inland Empire Women's March that culminated with a rally on the steps of the Riverside Historic Courthouse.

Marchers held up various signs with messages calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump and for the preservation of women's rights.

Speakers at the rally put a special emphasis on electoral politics, calling for more women to run for office and encouraging attendees to vote in upcoming elections.

"Here's the thing everyone, it is critically important that we all walk, that we all work and that we all vote. The most important thing that we can do is make our own choices and then come out and choose the people who are from our communities and who will work for us after we send them into their offices," said Riverside County Democratic Party Chair Tisa Rodriguez.

Other speakers included Assemblywoman Eloise Gomez Reyes, D-San Bernardino; Rep. Mark Takano, D-Riverside; and Sen. Richard Roth, D-Riverside.

"If you don't vote in March and November, you are trusting others to make decisions about your destiny," Roth said.

The march was organized by Women's March Inland Empire, an official chapter of Women's March California, which works to "unify and empower those who stand for women's rights, human rights and social justice."
