Public Works Crew Completes New Pathway To 3rd Street In Temecula

TEMECULA, CA — Pedestrians have another option to reach 3rd Street after the city's Public Works crew completed construction of a new access point, the city announced on Tuesday.

Crews created a paved pathway at the end of 3rd Street which will serve as an access point between Old Town Temecula and the trail next to the creek, the city said.

The city said the pathway will make it easier for visitors to access and leave the trail, or travel to different destinations on 3rd Street without having to take a car.

Third Street is one of the areas the city plans to upgrade with the Mercedes Street Sidewalk project. That project will construct the missing segment of sidewalk on the west side of Mercedes Street between Main Street and a point about 160 feet south of 3rd Street. The $2.4 million project will also construct crosswalks at 3rd Street and a potential mid-block crosswalk connecting the southern end of the project to the parking structure, according to city documents.

Construction is expected to begin next year.
