In an effort to address the concerns of many residents, they released the counts by city, of infected people who are undergoing self-quarantine or are at area hospitals receiving treatment for the virus.

Previously, officials were concerned that knowing what city residents resided in could create unnecessary fear. "Knowing the city where a patient resides does not offer any protection from a public health standpoint," they wrote on the OC Health Website. Still, the concerns of residents and officials who wished to spread transparency ultimately won out.

Staying home helps all of us protect the most vulnerable in our population by minimizing their exposure to the virus. Per Gov. Gavin Newsom's order, most of Orange County residents are self-quarantining at home, leaving only for "essential services" like grocery getting or pharmacy visits. A large number of our residents work from home, and those who work at grocery stores and restaurants are providing essential needs to residents, countywide.

That said, we all need to continue to pay attention to ourselves and our loved ones.

Signs and Symptoms

If you are showing symptoms, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, self-isolate within your home, and stay away from loved ones.
If you are an employer or employee at an essential location, stay home.

"You should self-isolate until you have symptom improvement, and your fever has not returned for 72-hours," OC Healthcare advises. "Self-isolation should last for at least 7 days."

If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor. If your symptoms are dire, such as pain in your chest, inability to draw breath, call 911.
