TRABUCO CANYON, CA — Residents will have an opportunity to help preserve one of the area's scenic outdoor spaces when OC Parks hosts a community trash cleanup Saturday at O'Neill Regional Park.
The volunteer event will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. along the Arroyo Trabuco Trail and surrounding day-use areas, where participants will help remove litter and maintain the park's natural beauty.
Organized by OC Parks staff and volunteers, the cleanup is part of ongoing efforts to protect the park's trails and recreational areas.
O'Neill Regional Park, located at 30892 Trabuco Canyon Road, encompasses thousands of acres of oak woodlands, grassy meadows and scenic canyon landscapes. The park is a popular destination for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and other outdoor activities.
Volunteers will meet at the Arroyo Trabuco Trailhead, with parking available in the Oak Grove Day-Use Area.
The event is open to participants ages 10 and older. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
OC Parks will provide gloves and trash bags, along with a limited number of trash pickers and buckets. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water, snacks, sunscreen and hats, and to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe hiking shoes.
The cleanup is free, although a $5 vehicle entry fee applies unless participants have a camping reservation.
Organizers warn that the event may be canceled because of weather conditions, including excessive heat or muddy trails.
The event's official listing currently shows registration as closed. Residents interested in participating should check with OC Parks for updates or possible changes in availability before heading to the park.
