• Twentynine Palms man sentenced to three years for wife's death (kesq.com) — A Twentynine Palms man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife, found in their Aladdin Drive garage earlier this year. Deputies discovered her body after responding to a vehicle blocking a nearby fire station gate and later located the husband walking several blocks away.
   

• Marine Corps turns to virtual battlefield to train troops for drone warfare (stripes.com) — Marines training at the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center now have access to FlowState, a new simulator that lets troops practice drone warfare tactics safely and repeatedly. The system, used across multiple Marine training sites, allows instructors to customize drones, introduce electronic jamming, and integrate with larger virtual battles so local units can rehearse complex missions without risking aircraft or personnel.
   

• A trip through our region's wild and wonderful history through the Morongo Basin Historical Museum (z1077fm.com) — Local history buffs will appreciate that a former Twentynine Palms High School vice principal, Vernette Landers, plays a big role in the Morongo Basin Historical Museum's exhibits, including her work founding the Landers post office. The museum in Landers showcases everything from the Willie Boy manhunt to military history tied to the nearby Marine base, plus quirky artifacts like a famous bobcat and vintage mercantile items, all free to explore on Saturdays.
