2 Suspected Burglars Injured Jumping from Third-Floor Balcony in Hayward
Police say an Oakland man, 19, suffered major injuries and the second suspect, a 27-year-old Emeryville resident, suffered minor injuries.

Two suspected burglars were injured jumping from a third-floor balcony in Hayward Friday afternoon while attempting to flee the scene after officers arrived. The incident was reported at 1:41 p.m. Friday in the 22000 block of City Center Drive near Foothill Boulevard.
“The neighbors saw two black males forcing entry into an apartment, and upon our arrival they jumped out the third-story balcony,” police Sgt. Tasha DeCosta said. DeCosta said that a 19-year-old Oakland man suffered major injuries, including broken bones, and was admitted to a hospital. The second suspect, a 27-year-old Emeryville resident, suffered minor injuries.
“The younger one got the worst of it,” DeCosta said. Both men were arrested on suspicion of burglary. DeCosta said the incident appeared to be drug-related.
