Alameda County Firefighters Rescue Donkey in Camp Fire
The animal was found running along a highway in Butte County.

BUTTE COUNTY, CA —The deadly Camp Fire in Butte County has provided plenty of sad narratives of lives lost, homes and businesses burned and emergency workers powerless to halt the flames. But some local firefighters have shared a nice story about a rescue.
Strike Team XAL 2011A — made up of Alameda County firefighters from Union City and Dublin, along with crews from Piedmont, Albany and Hayward — came across this donkey running along Highway 70 on Friday. They were able to lasso him and tie him to a road sign until Animal Control officers could get there with a large trailer to transport him to safety.
Earlier in the day, this Strike Team was driving through hellish conditions of flames and choking smoke.
