Liz brings new ideas and new revenues to help lead the county. She is fighting to improve public safety in Alameda County that has the highest crime rate overall, double the state average and one of the highest sales taxes in the state.
She is known as a fiscal hawk with a focus on good budgetary and financial policies. She is a staunch supporter of public safety, safe and clean streets and protecting our environment.
Using local and county transportation taxes, she will invest to create more vibrant community and downtown street experiences. She will advocate to build a section of the Niles Canyon Trail to protect vehicle conflicts with pedestrians and cyclists as part of the Save Our Hills initiative in 2009.
Liz will prioritize economic development, apprenticeships for manufacturing and high-tech jobs to train our workforce. A trained workforce attracts new employers and brings in new revenues to our communities to support county and city services. She will advocate for workforce housing to live and work in town.
There are safety and financial concerns in Alameda County. A passthrough, State Route 84, connects to Quarry Lakes Parkway (East-West connector) and brings vehicles/trucks/elite housing into our hills, eliminates Ramirez Farm, passes by Union City BART and connects to I-880. Decades behind schedule, Quarry Lakes Parkway /Easts West Connector will cost nearly $1 billion using local and county transportation taxes, accounting for inflation and tariffs.
Developers will advertise Quarry Lakes Parkway as the highway connector as an easy access to Niles Canyon SR 84, Mission Boulevard, I-880 and to severe and high fire-hazard areas within the Fremont/Union City Hills. A poor choice that compromises our watershed and is a public safety concern.
Major development proposal calls for 350 homes in Union City hills – Silicon Valley
Our east bay hills are designated as a high fire hazard severity zone by the State Fire Marshal. Liz will advocate to invest in reducing the wind-driven wildfire risk with necessary infrastructure to protect our communities.
With your help, we can build healthy and affordable places for children, families and our workforce to walk and enjoy our downtown, new jobs, and build a better future.
Please consider voting for Liz Ames as your Alameda County Supervisor.
