James Logan softball player Alexis Martinez is the Union City Patch Athlete of the Week.
Martinez blasted a grand slam against Fernley in a 8-0 win at the Reed Easter Tournament in Sparks, Nev. last weekend, and is hitting .600 with two home runs and 17 RBIs so far this season.

Coach Terri Johnson also credited assistant coach Wendell Jones with helping Martinez and the team reach a 12-3 overall record and a 6-0 mark in Mission Valley League play this year.
Johnson also is on the verge of 500 career wins, as she currently sits at 496. Johnson estimated that she may reach that mark on May 3 when the Colts host Irvington.
