Attempted Bank Robbery Reported In Union City

Police have arrested one suspect.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City Police arrested a man accused of attempted bank robbery last Friday.

Michael Brown, 56, of Union City, was taken into custody shortly after the robbery attempt.

According to police, a silent alarm was triggered at the Citibank branch on Decoto Road shortly before 3 p.m. and officers were dispatched. Police report, "Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had already left the bank without any money. Bank employees reported the suspect demanded money, told them not to activate the alarm, and threatened to discharge a firearm, which was never seen."

Brown was apprehended in the same shopping center as the bank within a few minutes.

No injuries were reported.
