Update: BART Service Restored After Train Strikes Pedestrian

Immediately following the accident, service was stopped between Union City and Hayward.

Update: BART service has been fully restored. The condition of the pedestrian has still not been released.

Update: BART has begun single-tracking trains adjacent to the track where a pedestrian was struck by a train this morning. One track remains closed for the investigation. Major delays are still happening. Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

A person was struck by a BART train in Hayward this morning, BART officials said.

The person was hit between the Hayward and South Hayward stations, BART spokeswoman Denisse Gonzalez said.

The condition of that person was not immediately disclosed.

BART service is stopped between Hayward and Union City, causing major delays on the Fremont line, Gonzalez said. Service along other lines is unaffected.

Bus service is available via Alameda-Contra Costa Transit bus No. 99.
