Basset Hound Meet & Greet June 9

Golden Gate Basset Rescue returns to the East Bay June 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pet Food Express in Alameda for an outdoor meet and greet and adoption event. The public is invited to come join this wiggle fest and learn about this lovable breed of dog. All ages are welcome. Pet Food Express is conveniently located in the Bridgeside Shopping Center (near Nob Hill Foods) at 2661 Blanding, Alameda. It is easily accessible from Hwy 880 and just over the Fruitvale Bridge. If you are an approved adopter, you may be able to meet and take home your hound at this event. To apply to be pre-approved, visit the Golden Gate Basset Rescue website. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and talk to a Golden Gate Basset Rescue representative about how to start the adoption process now or in the future or just come by to play with the dogs. Pet Food Express has a pet-wash facility, so bring your own dog down to say hello and get their bath at the same time. Golden Gate Basset Rescue (GGBR) rescues Basset Hounds from abusive, abandoned and unwanted situations. GGBR takes orphaned bassets into foster care, usually in volunteer homes, where they are loved and cared for until permanent, forever homes are found. The organization provides veterinary care, which includes necessary vaccinations, spaying and neutering, heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention. Its hounds are microchipped with 24PetWatch.com microchips, and when adopted out come with 30 days gift insurance cover courtesy of ShelterCare. GGBR's wonderful volunteers spend time with the dogs to evaluate them, deal with any behavioral issues, and restore them to full health with good food and love. Breed specific rescue groups, like GGBR, assist local shelters by removing dogs from shelters and fostering them in volunteers' homes until they can be matched with a forever familiy, thus freeing up space in shelters for other dogs in need of care. For more information visit GGBR's website at http://www.ggbassetrescue.org/ or e-mail info@ggbassetrescue.org
