Body Recovered From Lake Chabot Identified as Missing Man

The missing man was described previously as a 21-year-old Hayward resident.

A body recovered from Lake Chabot in Castro Valley this afternoon has been identified as that of a man who went missing in the lake earlier this month, according to an East Bay Regional Park District spokeswoman.

The body was spotted by a park user near the middle of the lake this afternoon and recovered by parks officials, according to district spokeswoman Carolyn Jones.

The missing man, described previously as a 21-year-old Hayward resident, either jumped or fell from a rowboat into the lake on July 14, according to reports from witnesses. The case is considered a probable suicide.
