UPDATE: Fatality Confirmed at Union City Apartment Complex Fire

One person died in a two-alarm fire at a Union City apartment complex this afternoon, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. The fire at Alvarado-Niles Road and Hartnell Street was reported at 4:25 p.m., according to an Alameda County Fire Department dispatcher.
Firefighters arrived to find a carport burning at the four-unit complex, fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said, but the fire may have spread to the apartments. She confirmed one person died in the fire but did not immediately have further details.
