BREAKING: Fire in Shared Attic Displaces Occupants of 3 Hayward Apartment Units

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A two-alarm apartment complex fire was reported this morning in Hayward, a fire captain said. The fire started at about 11:35 a.m. at 27389 Tyrrell Ave. in an attic shared by four apartment units, according to Hayward fire spokesman Capt. Don Nichelson.

The fire was knocked down in about a half-hour, according to Nichelson. The fire damaged two of the units and a third sustained water damage that occurred while the flames were being put out by firefighters, Nicholson said. The residents of the three units, including 16 adults and eight children, have been displaced, according to Nichelson.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
