Car Crashes After Speeding from Intersection to Escape Gunfire in Union City

Police say the people in the car did not know where the gunfire came from and could not provide a description of a possible suspect.

One person was injured when a car full of people sped away to escape gunfire and crashed into a Union City liquor store Sunday morning, according to police.

The car was stopped at the corner of Union City Boulevard and Horner Street at about 1:30 a.m. when someone started shooting at it, police Lt. Matt Pardo said. It sped off, crashing into another car and then into a liquor store, Pardo said.

One person was injured and taken to a hospital. Pardo said he did not know which car the injured person was in. The people in the car did not know where the gunfire came from and could not provide a description of a possible suspect. There have been no arrests, Pardo said.
