DA's Office Collecting Prescription Drugs at 'Take Back' Event in Hayward
Alameda County residents can dispose of unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs for free on Saturday, September 27.

The public is encouraged to rid their homes of potentially-dangerous expired, unused and/or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs. All community members may to bring medications for safe disposal to any of the four locations on Saturday, September 27, 2014 between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This effort is key to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft, as well as to avoid unintended pollution of the environment caused by unsafe disposal methods.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

DA Nancy E. O’Malley states, “I applaud the efforts our federal, state and local partners for their attention and dedication to prevent pill abuse and misuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse and addiction in Alameda County as well as around the state and nation are alarmingly high, as are the numbers of tragic accidental overdoses due to these drugs. My Office remains dedicated to eliminating prescription drug abuse and ensuring that the public has access to safe disposal methods of these substances.”
