Since early last year, Alameda County’s District 2, along with District 1 and regional agencies, have hosted workshops to discuss the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS). California Senate Bill 375 established a green goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through development of a regional SCS, which integrates transportation and land-use planning.
This state mandate will have far-reaching effects on local and regional land-use planning. Past workshops have highlighted the need to engage local elected officials and other stakeholders in the planning effort for Alameda County and the 9-county Bay Area region.
On Saturday, March 31, please join elected officials at the Niles Veteran’s Hall for a Districts 1 and 2 SCS Workshop. This workshop is an opportunity for you to become familiar with these new policies as well as the next steps in this regional planning process.
