Fire Ravages Iconic Holiday Bowl Building In Hayward
A four-alarm fire on Friday "completely destroyed" the remnants of Hayward's former Holiday Bowl bowling alley, which closed in 2005.

HAYWARD, CA — A four-alarm fire on Friday ravaged the remnants of Hayward's iconic Holiday Bowl building, which had been vacant since the once-popular bowling alley closed in 2005.
The fire was reported around 6:05 p.m. Friday, Hayward fire captain Don Nichelson told the East Bay Times. Crews inside the building had to retreat and fight it from the outside, where they knocked it down by 9:30 p.m.
Nichelson told the Times that the Holiday Bowl building at 29827 Mission Blvd. is "completely destroyed."

There were no reports of any injuries.
Boasting 40 lanes, a restaurant, a nursery and a beauty salon, the Holiday Bowl was once Northern California's largest bowling center. It hosted a campaign fundraiser for Ronald Reagan in 1965 as he prepared to run for governor, the East Bay Times reported.
