HazMat Spill Cleaned Up In Union City

A truck crashed into a tree, rupturing the truck's diesel fuel tank.

UNION CITY, CA — A delivery truck crashed into a tree on the 2900 block of Whipple Road in Union City Monday, just after 2 p.m. There were no injuries.

A fuel tank ruptured, spilling approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel into a private storm drain. Alameda County Fire Department firefighters worked to mitigate the problem and report that very little made it into a main storm drain on Whipple Road.

The California Department of Fish & Wildlife was notified of the spill.
