This Week: Last Minute Holiday Tree Recycling, Photography Contest Winners and Citizenship Classes

What's happening around town this week

Here are five things going on this week in Union City you need to know about:

  • Still have not taken down that holiday tree? Hurry! Monday and Tuesday are the two last days for curbside holiday tree collection! Tri-CED will be collecting trees through Tuesday the 31st. Set the tree curbside or in the green bin and it will be taken and recycled.
  • Check out some pics at Paddy’s on Wednesday, Feb. 1. The winners of the Annual Union City Photography Contest will be on display. A special reception event follows on Friday, Feb. 3 at the coffee shop.
  • Need to take citizenship classes? Starting Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. at the Union City Library, Steps to U.S. Citizenship classes are being offered. This is one of eight classes in the series. To register or find out more about the classes, please go to the New Haven Adult School located at 600 G St. in Union City or call 510-489-2185.
  • Those in search of a job should check out the free Job Search Workshop at the Union City Library on Friday, Feb. 3 at 3:30 p.m. This free class is offered monthly and teaches job search strategies through a partnership with Tri-Cities One-Stop Career Center. No sign-ups are necessary to join this workshop. For more information, contact Mira Geroy at Union City Library mgeroy@aclibrary.org.
