They took first place for their Medical Devices design at a UC Berkeley competition.

UNION CITY, CA — A team from Logan High School won the Medical Devices design competition at a UC Berkeley Bio-engineering High School Competition earlier this month.

For the competition, contestants were asked to identify a problem in medicine or biology and design a bio-engineering solution in seven weeks. The Logan team designed a Synthetic Continent Ostomy and Improved Afferent Anti-reflux Valve Stability for Short Bowel Syndrome Patients.

Team members include Romy Mastel, Alan Lin, Justin Tran, Abhijeet Grewal, and Ivan Liongson. This is the second consecutive year that the Logan team has taken first place.
