Major Break In Union City Double Murder Announced

Two boys, 11 and 14 years old, were shot to death in a van at a Union City elementary school.

UNION CITY, CA — There's been a major break in the double murder case of two Union City boys who were shot in a school parking lot on Nov. 23, the City of Union City announced Thursday night in an email to local media.

The City has scheduled a new conference for 10:30 a.m. Friday to announce the developments. Union City Police Chief Jared Rinetti, California Attorney General Xavier Bercerra, Chief Assistant District Attorney Kevin Dunleavy, and Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci are all scheduled to speak at the news conference, which will be at City Hall in the council chambers.

The boys who were killed were just 11 and 14 years old. They were shot while sitting in a van in the parking lot of Searles Elementary School around 1:30 a.m. In announcing the news conference, the City said "the Union City Police Department in coordination with partner agencies have been dedicating countless hours and resources to bring justice to the families of the victims and closure to the community."
