Man Arrested in Stabbing at Tri-City Supermarket

Police say the suspect allegedly tried to stab the victim multiple times, but the victim was able to block the knife with his hand.

Police on Monday arrested a man on suspicion of a stabbing at a supermarket in Fremont. Officers responded to the FoodMaxx store on Fremont Boulevard on a report of an argument that quickly led to a physical fight between two people.

During the fight, the 31-year-old suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, stabbed the victim once, causing a laceration to the face, police said.

The suspect tried to stab the victim several more times, but the victim was able to block the knife with his hand, police said. The suspect was stopped by officers a short time later and was identified by the victim and several witnesses, according to police.
