Mighty 4 Celebrates 15 Years of True Hip Hop Culture

San Francisco, CA – (October 05, 2013) – Since 1998, Mighty 4 has continued to preserve Hip Hop art forms and history. Mighty 4 has educated many people of all ages around the world on Hip Hop art forms, especially youth, and opened platforms for all to express themselves freely through this culture.

On Saturday, October 5th, Mighty 4, a local non-profit based out of Union City, held its 15th year anniversary at Temple, a multi-functional venue in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Close to 800 attendees from all over the globe showed up to show their support and appreciation for what Mighty 4 has done for the Hip Hop community and culture. People of all ages enjoyed a spectacular line up of dj’s from the Bay Area’s mobile DJ scene of the 1980’s to today’s freshest international spinners. Celebrity dance performances from legends such as BRS Alliance and rap performances from America’s Got Talent’s own father and son duo MC WildChild & BabyBugaloo, engaged the audience and got them moving to the music.

Many attendees came to compete in the prestigious competitions being held that day. Mighty 4 15th year anniversary saw the Out For Fame Finals (a national breaking competition) on the main floor with the winners, Illest 808 Tribe, hailing from the Bay Area and keeping the title in the Bay. Also on the main floor was the highly anticipated Supreme BGirl Invitational which brought extraordinary women from Canada to the Philippines, to Boston to Los Angeles, in San Francisco to compete for the title of Supreme BGirl. This was an amazing competition with BGirl Macca prevailing in the end as the Supreme BGirl. Other competitions at the 15th Year Anniversary ranged from Fresh and Fly Production’s Open Style Battle, which involved all street dance styles, to Skratchpad’s DJ Battle, a competitive forum for the scratch DJ.

What would Hip Hop be without style? Mighty 4 15th year included fashion vendors, a barber studio, even Hip Hop confections. What set this event apart from other events was the Mighty 4 Hip Hop awards ceremony recognizing world and Bay Area legends, as well as another Bay Area non-profit organization. Chuy Gomez, Bay Area radio DJ and Hip Hop pioneer received an award for his service to the people. Aktuel Force, a pioneering and influential breaking crew from France received a Mighty 4 award. Also, local non-profit All The Way Live received an award for touching the lives of many throughout the world with their passion for Hip Hop. The beauty of celebrating one’s accomplishments pales in comparison to celebrating everyone’s accomplishments for all that they have given to the Hip Hop culture and its future.

After 15 years, Mighty 4 continues to be the premiere Hip Hop event of the Bay Area, bringing together all people of all ages from all around the world to have fun, spread love, show peace, and unity in the name of Hip Hop and community.
