Mighty4 Arts Foundation Hosts Annual, "Hip Hop, Health, & Hope," Festival on June 27th

UNION CITY, CA June 14, 2015 -- On Saturday, June 27, 2015 Mighty4 Arts Foundation (M4AF) will host its annual Mighty4 Day Festival, “Hip Hop, Health, and Hope.” The free, all ages event will take place at Old Alvarado Park from 10:30AM to 2:30PM. This annual homecoming celebration is open to the general public and brings elements of art, music, and dance to celebrate the East Bay community. M4AF brings local and national attendees together for the Bay Area’s only annual Hip Hop festival. More information about the event can be found at Mighty4Day.eventbrite.com.

Mighty4 Day has a full line-up of entertainment and events, including three headlining competitions throughout the day. First is a breakin (breakdance) qualifier to win travel, accommodation, and a chance to compete at the 2016 international breakin competition “Bboy in Shanghai” event hosted in China. The competition will have a judge panel comprised of world renowned b-boys and organizers- Kareem Gwinn, Rayan “Reveal” Casicas, and Chris “Cros1” Wright.

DJs will also be competing for the “Cut 2 Cut” invitational scratch competition using vinyl records, hosted by Battle Avenue. To top off this event filled day, there will be a speed chess tournament organized by Hip Hop Chess Federation, a San Francisco based non-profit organization serving youth through chess and Hip Hop-based programming.

In addition to the competitions, M4AF Founder, Paul “Paulskeee” Ruma, will continue the tradition of the Mighty4 Appreciation Award program started in 1999. The 2015 honorees include Rayan “Reveal” Casicas, Jonathan “Bionic Man” Bayani, Dragons Den MMA, Filipino Advocates for Justice, and El Ballet Folklorico de James Logan High School.

Entertainment includes showcase performances by dance groups Playboyz Inc, GrooveMekanex, and Our Lady of the Rosary Ballet Folklorico.

Throughout the event, attendees will be able to shop food, produce, and goods at a variety of local vendors including the Union City Farmer’s Market, Roll Revolution food truck, and more. Aligned with the “Hip Hop, Health, and Hope” theme, local community businesses and organizations will be present to share health and wellness resources available in the East Bay community.

Mighty4 Day is a unique event that pays homage to the hometown that has supported M4AF’s endeavors for the last seventeen years. A day of culture and community, don’t miss out on this jam-packed event!

About Mighty4 Arts Foundation
Mighty4 Arts Foundation (M4AF) was founded by Paul Ruma (Paulskeee) in 1998, organizing San Francisco Bay Area’s only Hip Hop cultural festival, “Mighty4,” which strives to unify and preserve the four cornerstones of what is known as Hip Hop culture: Emceeing, Style Writing, DJing and Breakin.

After over a decade of touring the festival to 40 cities worldwide, M4AF acquired non-profit status in 2011.
